The ICOI fellowship is conferred on select members based upon recommendations’ of a jury of internationally recognized eminent oral implantoligists.
Dr. Willson is one of only two dentists in Fayetteville recognized by the ICOI for their expertise in dental implant technology. According to a U.S. study, only 5 percent of dentists worldwide are formally trained for implants.
“Implants are becoming the natural choice for tooth replacement, and it is imperative that dentists who perform implant surgery are adequately trained and experienced,” Dr. Willson opined. “OCIO membership signifies a member’s continuous study and training in implantology. The selection process for fellowship is very rigorous, and I am very proud to have received that honor.”
Dr. Willson was the winner of the Fayetteville Observer's Readers' Choice Award for Best Dentist in 2004.
According to Dr. Willson, implants are one of the most effective methods of replacing teeth. They restore self confidence and quality of life to many patients.
“Implants are basically substitutes for natural tooth roots,” Dr. Willson stated. “They can replace individual missing teeth in situations where a standard bridge would not work well, and they are especially good for patients who cannot wear full dentures because of gagging or severe bone loss.”
